This watch fob is a beautiful historical antique from the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks with very finely detailed filigree work - uncommon - most are typically much more plainly designed. The exquisite scroll work filigree is adorned with the Elk head and 11th hour clock; enameled clock face and red ruby eyes. The gold was carefully tested to be 14kt and is engraved on top: "B.P.O.E. 123" and "B.F.F.R.O. SS (or 55)". The 2nd line is not obvious to it's significance; a member's title, initials, member number? Lodge 123 was founded in 1889 in Scranton Pennsylvania; this fob came from a very fine high end local estate of an affluent family with an antique collection dating throughout the 1800's. Among the pieces we have available from that are a few medals from the 1880's-90's, a 1916 B.P.O.E. Reading, PA Reunion Visitor Badge and a WWII Sterling Air Force pin.
The gold cap is 10mm wide at the top, tooth is approx 13mm at the widest, and the length without the bale is 23mm.
